Dear parents,
I've given our boys spelling for unit 10.1 today. Generally they have done pretty well. I'll also be marking their homework and group work which they have done yesterday. Below are the assignments:
(1) Sign temperature taking exercise form. I've kept our boys' thermometers in the classroom in case they lose them. Hence no worries if you can't find the thermometer in your child's bag.
(2) Tomorrow I'll return our boys their 1B workbk and spelling for your signature.
Cheers,
Teresa

Re: New beginning Term 3 has started!
Dear parents and my 1b boys,
Welcome back to school! So nice to see all our little ones so bright and lively in week 1 of term 3. Some of them have grown taller and definitely smarter too! Apologies for not updating the blog as often as I would like to.
There're loads of events installed for our darlings. First up our primary 1 boys will be putting up a talent show on 5th July, CH family day. 1B is putting up an item entitled "We're all in this together". Basically I've grouped the boys into 2 different groups namely singers and dancers. I've printed the lyrics of the song for our little ones and have been training them since Monday. I'll be assigning specific roles to our little ones tomorrow and come next week, 1B will be rehearsing their item on stage so as to shine on CH family day. I'm pretty excited to watch our boys perform and I'm sure they are pretty much hyped up too!
Next up I've engaged a renown music school to conduct a 10 session vocal training course for our primary 1 boys. The session will commence during their music lessons from next week onwards. It'll be loads of fun and these exciting activities will ensure our boys are given the right training to excel in the aesthetics too.
Last but not least, I've covered most of unit 9 this week. Basically our boys have learnt the vocab pertaining to the topic on grocery shopping and uncountable and countable nouns for the grammar component. I've brought our boys to the computer lab to improve their spelling through interactive language games. In addition, to spur our darlings to think more, I've briefly showed them what online shopping is about through cold storage.com and a bit of science i.e. parts of plants.
Ok enough said, let's look forward to a fruitful term 3 ahead!
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: Some of our boys have submitted quite impressive sets of book reviews. =D Well done!

Hi all,
Today our darlings created their group music poster and gave a short presentation as music sales personnel. I was rather impressed by their efforts in bringing all the marvellous looking pictures. Most of them coulld name the various instruments which showed their great vocabulary!
Next up, we went throught a few powerpoint presentations on animals, both domestic and wild ones. I've instructed the boys to bring along 4 pictures of farm animals and 4 pictures of wild animals for pair work tomorrow. They would be doing a collage on a farm and a safari jungle. That should be quite exciting!
We also read a book entitled "Who needs friends?" and touched a bit on the pastoral side. We went through the theme on "Friendship" and I've also told the boys a little on cliques on why they should not be involved in them.

Dear all,
Today our boys have completed the workbook exercises in unit 5. Our boys did a group job poster and gave a presentation on their posters. The only homework for this week is to complete a short comprehension practice and revise units 1 to 5 of the English textbook. Next week, I'll be getting our darlings to use Microsoft words to create an IT project entitled "What I want to be when I grow up." It would be really fun for our boys.
Hence could you ensure that your child is familiar with
(1) Switching on the computer
(2) The various important keys in the keyboard namely alt, ctrl, del, spacebar, caps lock
(3) Simple typing skills i.e. identifying the positions of the letters on the keyboard.
Many thanks in advance parents and here's wishing all a great Easter too!
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: Kindly sign in your child's spelling book and there's a parent workshop form too. See if you're interested. =D

Today I shared a class story entitled "Orang Utans" with our boys. It's a non-fiction book and covers a variety of information on the orang utans. Most boys enjoyed the book and I got our boys to create a book jacket for the story "Orang Utans" as a post reading activity.
Kindly note that I will be giving our boys their English workbooks, Spelling books and English files tomorrow for their revision during the March Holidays. As such could you check that your child's bag is relatively light tomorrow so that our boys will not be overburdened by the weight of the revision materials? Personally, I do not need our boys to bring their English textbooks to school tomorrow so just ensure that they do have an English story book for morning reading.
Lastly, I would appreciate if you could ensure that our boys bring along their English Holistic report cards with the parent's signature and completed section on the goal setting. Ok, 1 more day before our March Holiday break! =D
Many Cheers,
Teresa

Important! Assignments for the coming March Holidays
Dear parents,
Kindly note that our boys are required to complete at least 5 post reading activities that I have included in the class email draft folder. I have also compiled a list of good books for our boys to read during their March Holidays. Kindly note that the list is not exhaustive.
In addition, I have compiled a list of online websites for our boys to attempt during their March Holidays. Do ensure that they complete the activities that are available on these websites. Kindly browse through 1 or 2 websites with your child every day to help him familiarize with the layout and procedure to engage in the activities. Once your child shows that he is able to browse through the websites by himself, allocate about 30 - 45 mins every day for your child to attempt the online activities. A word of caution kindly allow your child plenty of vision breaks to help minimize the possibility of your child over straining his eyes.
Lastly, I will be posting some online quizzes and lessons in the web portal www.lead.com.sg.
Kindly ensure that your child completes them and go through English Primary 1 Term 1 and 2 activities on the portal too.
That's all for now. Thank you in advance for helping your child fully utilize his March Holidays. Enjoy the holidays and I wish your family be blessed with plenty of quality bonding time too! =D
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: All the above documents can be found in the draft folder in cathigh1b@yahoo.com.sg. Quick recall how to access our class email.

Daily updates for 4th of March
Dear parents,
Today our boys did sentence making for the spelling words in unit 5.1 and completed their review exercise for unit 3 and 4 in their English workbooks. I've also covered the exercise on present tense in their grammar and vocab assessment books. On top of that, I've given our angels their English holistic report cards.
Kindly read through the report which covers some of the major strengths and weaknesses of your child. I've also included some strategies that you may wish to adopt at home while coaching your child. I'll be giving all parents a call over this week so if you have doubts or concerns, feel free to consult with me during our tele-conferencing.
Kindly also go through the goal setting in the report card with your child so that he knows the rationale of target setting and hopefully is more geared towards achieving his goal. I'll be elaborating on the importance of goal setting as well so not to worry. Remember that your child should set achievable targets according to his ability. No need to stress him by setting a target say 100 marks for English. =) I think it'll be pretty daunting and impossible to achieve.
Lastly, thank you for signing in our boys' English files and spelling books. I'll be returning our boys' workbooks, files and grammar books on Thurs so as to facilitate them in their revision during the March Holidays.
Cheers,
Teresa

Hi parents,
Thank you for submitting the parent teacher meeting letter promptly. I will be liaising with our subject teachers to finalise the parent meeting time and will inform your child about the exact timing after the March Holidays. Re: Daily updates for 29th of Feb
Hi all,
It's finally 29th of Feb! =) What a long wait heh. Today our boys did a group work on creating sentences. Thereafter we did the workbook exercise on using "May I" and "Can I" as well as phrases pertaining to the theme on helping others. The only homework assignment: bring 2 pieces of construction paper(preferably light coloured ones) as I will be teaching our boys how to make a book cover next Monday. This is to prepare them for the holiday assignment during the March Holidays.
Ok, enjoy the weekend!

Teresa

Re: Daily updates for 28th of Feb
Hi all,
Today I brought our boys to the computer lab to attempt 1 online quiz on parts of my body and 1 online lesson package on unit 4 caring and sharing. For the benefit of those who were absent, you can access this online quiz by logging onto http://www.lead.com.sg/. Type in your child's Birth Cert No. as the userid, schid is CHS and password is learning. On the top left hand corner you'll see a box that says New assignments. Click under the tasks link and your child will be able to take the quiz and view the online lesson.
I've also collected the parent and teacher meeting forms from our boys. Kindly note that the last date of submission is next Monday, 3rd of March. Also many apologies for holding back our boys' spelling books as our school is conducting a book check this week. I'll be returning our boys their spelling books either tomorrow or on Monday. All of our boys did very well for spelling unit 4.2 so many thanks to our parents for coaching them.
I'll be giving our boys their English holistic report cards next Monday too. As for the teleconferencing, I'll be calling about 7 parents every day from next week onwards for more information on how well your child is coping etc. Alrighty, weekend is around the corner!
Cheers,
Teresa

Re: Daily updates for 27th of Feb
Dear parents,
I've given our boys 3 forms today. (1) Opportunity fund (2) Parent teacher meeting form (3) Swimming carnival. Kindly note that the sch has scheduled 28th of March as our Pri 1 meet the teacher session. I understand that most of you have a very busy schedule and hence I will be giving each of you a call as well as provide each boy with a holistic report card i.e. indicating your child's strengths and areas of improvement. Hopefully that will minimize the inconvenience of taking time off to meet the teacher. However, do indicate on the parent teacher form if you will still like to make an appointment to see me or the other subject teachers. We'll be most glad to help allay any pressing concerns.
Lastly, the swimming carnival is next Fri on the 7th of March. Please note that there will be no school on Fri unless your child is participating in the competition. Hence some cheer for our boys who'll have an extra day off before the March Holidays!

Re: Daily updates for 26th of Feb
Hi all,
Today our boys did some revision work on subject verb agreement as well as using a simple connector i.e. and to join 2 sentences into 1. On the whole, the boys fared pretty well in their grammar revision worksheet. However, do constantly revise with your child the topic of verb form to ensure that he remembers the grammar rules. For example A cat licks. A girl runs. A boy writes. We eat. My friends play. Bill and I carry. Exceptions include: I run. You write. I have told our boys not to be confused with plural nouns.
Though we add a 's' to nouns to indicate they are plural, the key note is to understand that the word is a noun and not an action word i.e. verb. Do check with your child if he has problems in this area.
Lastly, I've created a treasure map worksheet for our class. Basically, I've demonstrated how to create and write instructions for the treasure map. Hence I've instructed our boys to try creating their own treasure maps at home. Please ensure that your child brings along his treasure map tomorrow as there will be an exchange of treasure maps during English lesson to allow our boys to demonstrate their understanding of prepositions in solving the treasure mystery.
Love,
Teresa
Homework for today:
(1) Learn spelling words from unit 4.2
(2) Your child has been given a financial assistance form for your information and action if any.
(3) Complete the treasure map.

Re: Daily updates for 25th of Feb
Hi all,
Once again, great to see all our lovely boys looking so energetic and lively first day of the week. Today our boys did pair work during English lesson. Basically, our boys created their own zoo pamphlet with cut out pictures of animals coupled with short write-ups and important information like the ticket pricing, opening hours etc. I've taken pictures of their work which can be viewed at the bottom. In addition, we did group work on creating a song "Little froggy" during music lesson today. Our boys learnt the song entitled "Little froggy" and had to improvise in their groups to come up with a similar song using another animal. Our boys had fun presenting their song and some groups even came up with dance actions during their presentation!
Homework for today: Kindly ensure that your child brings along his box of colour pencils as I will be revising prepositions with our boys in a fun activity i.e. creating our treasure map tomorrow.
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: Most of our boys did very well for their English CA1 Amodes. Great job boys and many thanks for our supportive parents too!

Re: Beautiful Pictures of 1B boys. A nice farewell to dear Toby.
Hi parents and boys,
I've taught our boys simple past and present tense and prepositions today. We did an activity whereby our boys had to follow my instructions i.e. which incorporates various prepositions like above, beside, on top of, in front of, behind, on etc to come up with a drawing. Through this activity, our boys also did a self-reflection on their understanding of the various prepositions and hence they were able to identify their areas of weakness in the grammar topic.
I also taught our boys some musical elements like pitch, dynamics and tempo to describe a song. The music appreciation lesson also allowed our boys to learn that music can evoke emotions. Our boys listened to 3 songs and learnt how to express their feelings towards the songs using their drawing. It was pretty fun and our boys seemed to enjoy themselves quite a bit.
Lastly, our dear Toby will be bidding a farewell to 1B. I've posted some of the pictures taken today. For your viewing pleasure and keepsake!
Love,
Teresa
Homework over the weekend:
(1) Cut out at least 6 pictures of animals. Bring glue and colour pencils as our boys will be crafting their own brochures on Mon.

Re: Events for the past 2 days
Hi all,
So sorry I've not been updating our blog for the past 2 days. The reason being I was on mc on Wed due to bad sore throat and Thurs was an extremely hectic day with our school's annual Rhythm Explosion Concert at VCH. Apologies for that. I've completed spelling test and the writing test with our boys on Thursday. Basically, I did a class dictated story with our boys on describing their best friend. After which I instructed the boys to write 5 sentences based on the topic "My classmate". There were many helping words given so most boys were able to complete the writing test by themselves. By the end of next week, I will be returning our boys their scripts and I will be crafting an English holistic report for each of our boys to let you have a gauge of your child's progress in school.
I'll be posting the homework assignment later today. Thank you for reading and have a great weekend!
Love,
Teresa

Re: Daily updates for 19th of Feb
Hi all,
Kindly note that "teach me 2 fish" programme commences tomorrow from 8.05am to 10.05am. Basically, I've instructed our boys to wear their full school uniforms with buttons, shoes with shoelaces and to bring along a paper plate and a plastic knife. I understand that some of you might be confused as there is PE lesson scheduled in the time table for tomorrow. I have informed our PE teacher regarding the programme and hence there will be no outdoor PE lesson tomorrow. The boys will be taking "wet weather" PE lesson i.e. the correct ways of exercising, right diet etc instead.
I've also told the boys to learn their spelling words for unit 4.1 tomorrow. Some boys have forgotten to bring or get their parents to sign in the spelling books. Kindly check with your child whether he has submitted his spelling book and if he hasn't do so, pls remind him to bring his spelling book tomorrow as spelling test will commence as scheduled.
Lastly, I taught the boys how to do filing today. In a nutshell, I went through the steps with them i.e. how to place their worksheets according to the dates, how to write their content page etc. I will be getting the boys to bring back their English files for your signature so you can have a better gauge on how your child is progressing in class. Overall I would say our boys have been pretty good in their work so do praise your child for his hard work and efforts!
That's all for now. Have a great evening ahead!
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: The reader's house co. will be selling books at the canteen from 9am to 2pm tml and Thurs. I've given our boys the book list last Fri so do get your child to bring along sufficient money if he wishes to purchase the books. Also I've given each boy a $100 voucher from optical point and our darlings were really excited about it!(thinking it's really $100 cash) =D

Re: Daily updates for 18th of Feb
Dear Parents,
First and foremost, I would like to thank our dear reading mums who have been helping our boys ever so fervently. Really do appreciate all for your efforts in taking time off to help our darlings =D!
Another note to cheer is our darlings have performed very well for their Spelling tests for units 3.1 and 3.2. I've told our boys to bring their spelling books back for their parents' signature so do take a look through the units and praise our boys for doing well! Kindly also remember to get your child to bring his spelling book tomorrow. =D
For English today, I did sentence making with our boys. Basically, our boys had to write out sentences based on pictures that were given in their worksheets. As stated in the AMODES ca1 English assessment, I would be taking this sentence making exercise into account for the writing component. I've rendered sufficient help to our darlings by giving them helping words for the exercise. Hence judging from their writing, most if not all of our boys should do very well for their writing component.
Lastly, a gentle reminder for those who wish to purchase tickets to attend our school's Rhythm Explosion Concert held this Thursday night at VCH that the closing date will be this coming Wed. I've already given the tickets to our boys who have submitted their purchase forms so do check with your child reg the tickets.
Okie, lucky there's not much Mon Blues today! Looking forward to a great week ahead!
Love,
Teresa

Re: Daily updates for 15th of Feb
Hi all,
Today was a very eventful day indeed! During recess, our boys got to experience how the people in the past suffered because of the lack of food. They were given bread in the food rationing exercise which resulted to some boys complaining to me towards the last 2 lessons about hunger. =D The experiential learning did work on them, I suppose keke =b.
Our boys did their spelling test on unit 3.2 today. Generally, most of our boys did very well for their spelling. Do praise them for their hard work! Our boys were also given a booklist. The vendor will be coming down next Wed and Thurs 20th and 21st 9am to 2pm. Our darlings can purchase the books during their recess or after school on these days.
The only homework assignment for today is to sign on pg 26 and pg 36 of your child's English Workbook 1A. Kindly look through the book and revise with your child units 1 to 3. Do provide them with feedback/comments on their work. Praising and words of caution will certainly help them to improve. =D
Lastly, have a great weekend. Last weekend for CNY period.
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: I will be bringing the boys to the computer lab for English lesson using lead learning portal on Monday. Hence appreciate if you could teach your boy some basic computer knowledge like knowing the keys on the keyboard, the function of a mouse and the button to press on the CPU.

Daily updates for 14th of Feb
Dear 1B family,
Today our boys had their first temperature taking exercise. Generally, the boys were able to take their own temperature using the thermometers given by MOE. Just a note of caution, kindly ensure that your child drinks plenty of water as the weather is becoming increasingly hot. In addition, the boys have been given their library cards and have been told by the librarian regarding the procedures to the borrowing / returning of library books in Catholic High Library. Kindly encourage your child to borrow more books as this will definitely help cultivate a reading culture as well as increase his word recognition, vocabulary etc.
Furthermore, I've given our boys a mini calendar from the lead.com.sg company. Just follow the instructions i.e. log onto the website www.lead.com.sg and type in your child's birthcert no. as LoginID and SchoolID is CHS. The password is learning and wala! Your child can use the interactive software in this webportal to help in their learning of various subjects.
Homework for 14th of Feb:
(1) Learn spelling words from unit 3.2. Spelling test will commence tomorrow on 15th of Feb during English lesson.
(2) There will be a fire drill and food rationing exercise during recess tomorrow. A special assembly on Total Defence day has been scheduled for our boys.
(3) Our school will be showcasing all our aesthetics CCA groups including Choir, Chinese Orchestra, String Ensemble, Concert Band and Modern Dance in a concert at Victoria Concert Hall on 21st of Feb 7.15pm to 9.15pm. It is definitely a good chance to see how our aesthetics CCA groups function so that our boys can make a more conscious decision on selecting a CCA that is suitable and enjoyable to them in the later part of the year. Kindly fill up the forms, indicating the no. of tickets your family would like to purchase and it will be preferable that the payment be made in cheque for security reasons. =D Hope to see most if not all of our boys attending this large scale concert =D
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: Happy V-day to you and your loved ones! Spread the love ard =D

Re: Daily updates for Wed 13th of Feb
Hi all,
Today our boys did their spelling test for unit 3.1 and had their long awaited library session. They were told to read both fiction and non-fiction English books. The boys also did sentence making for the spelling words in unit 3.2. The homework assignment for today are stated below. Cheers!
Love,
Teresa
(1) Temperature taking exercise will commence on 14th of Feb. MOE has given each Primary 1 child a new thermometer to facilitate our students in their emergency temperature taking exercise. I've labeled their names on the thermometers and have kept them in class to prevent cases of students forgetting to bring or losing their thermometers.
(2) Your child has been given a total defence notice form. Kindly note that there will be food rationing on Fri,15th of Feb as part of our Total Defence Day commemoration. There will be a fire drill exercise on Fri as well. Our boys have gone through the fire drill evacuation exercise yesterday and hence they are familiar with the evacuation route. (Hopefully less chaotic on the actual fire drill exercise)
(3)Learn spelling words for unit 3.2. Our boys will have their next spelling test on unit 3.2 this Friday as they did not have any spelling test last week due to CNY holidays.
(4) Closing dateline for donation for indoor sports hall fund is this Fri, 15th of Feb.

Re: Daily updates for 12th of Feb
Dear parents,
Today our boys did loads of stuff ranging from Big book reading and composition writing to completing workbook phonics activities and of course our reading test. There are still about 4 boys who have not taken their reading test. Hence I will continue tomorrow.
In addition, I taught the boys a new dance called "chicken dance" and the boys did a mini group presentation of their chicken dance in class. They seemed really enthusiastic and looked really cute when they were dancing the chicken dance. Get your child to show you the simple but lively dance and perhaps you might like to join your boy in dancing too? =D
Here's the homework assignment for the day. Have a blessed week ahead too!
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: Our boys had their fire drill evacuation exercise. It went quite well except when a few boys suggested wearing sunglasses while standing at the open parade square during the fire drill. ;b
Homework assignment:
(1) Learn spelling for unit 3.1. Spelling test will commence tomorrow during English lesson.
(2) Your child has been given a leaflet on olympic games. Kindly read through it with your child to find out more.
(3) Kindly check with your boy if he has submitted his brown English file. If he hasn't, kindly get him to bring it to school tomorrow.

Re: Daily updates for 11th of Feb
Hi all,
Welcome back to school! It's nice seeing all our little darlings so lively and happy. However I did notice some boys having difficulty concentrating towards the later part of the day. I found out that it was due to the lack of sleep and hence just a gentle reminder please ensure that our darlings have sufficient rest in the midst of the festive season.
A quick update on the happenings in class today. Thanks to our reading mums, our class has started reading the 2nd set of readers "Being grumpy with grown ups". It's basically a light-hearted tale about how phrases like "pulling up your socks" or "what's on TV?" can be taken literally by little children. We also did group work on creating a circus poster. The boys learnt a little about graphic design i.e. layout of the pictures in a poster, how to use colours to attract the audience, how to transfer important information to readers etc.
Furthermore, we did some revision exercises in the English workbook about shapes and colours. The boys did some play activities during the speech and drama session and watched a video on "How a lama found its mama".
Ok, here's the homework assignment for today:
(1) Your child has been given a notice on teach me to fish programme. It starts on 20th of Feb. Kindly get your child to wear a pair of sch shoes with shoelaces on 20th of Feb in order to facilitate them in learning how to tie their shoelaces.
(2) Reading test on a poem found in pg 25 of the English Textbook will commence tomorrow. The reading test rubrics has been given out earlier with the show and tell rubrics.
(3)Pls get your boy to deposit his OCBC form into a letterbox found outside the general office by 13th of Feb if he wishes to open an account with the bank. The closing date is 13th of Feb.
(4) Pls get your boy to bring the donations for our sch indoor sports hall building fund if you have not already done so. The closing date is this Fri, 15th of Feb.
(5) Spelling test for unit 3.1 will commence on Wednesday 13th of Feb. Pls get your child to revise through the words before Wed.
That's all. Take care folks and God Bless.
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: The chinese teacher will post her announcements via our cathigh1b yahoo email. Kindly check it for updates. If you see funny looking characters on your browser, kindly click on view tab and select the necessary encoding option. You should then be able to view the chinese characters. I've also informed our Mathematics teacher about our class blog and email. =)

Re: Daily updates for 6th of Feb regarding school matters next Mon
Hi parents,
Firstly thanks for attending the class potluck party. It was truly wonderful seeing all of you being so supportive and bringing all sort of goodies and drinks for our party. Once more I would like to apologise for not having the opportunity to interact much with all of you as the mass in school ended around 8am and shortly after we commenced on the mini class game. I truly appreciate all of your efforts, be it accompanying your handsome boy to school for this bonding time as well as contributing ever so generously to our sch's indoor sports hall building fund. =D These have definitely made our CNY eve, which is also our Ash Wednesday, extra meaningful!
Serious matters now. Due to time constrain, I was unable to administer spelling test today. Hence I will be conducting the spelling test on next Wed, 13th of Feb. This is because there will be an individual reading test conducted on next Tues, 12th of Feb. Do not be alarmed as the reading test is a simple one. Kindly practice reading the poem on pg 25 in the English 1A My Pals textbook. It is entitled "Colours, shapes and sizes".
I've also given the boys an envelope from OCBC bank. The boys attended a short assembly session conducted by OCBC bank on the importance of saving. Hence kindly read through the notices in the envelope. If you're keen to open an OCBC account for your son, pls rem to fill up all the forms and place the envelope in the OCBC letterbox located beside our general office. The closing date is 13th of Feb.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading this notice and here's wishing one and all a truly blessed and happy Chinese New Year!
Love,
Teresa
P.S.: This CNY break is a good and fruitful time for us to relax and enjoy! *squeal*

Daily updates for 5th of Feb
Hi all,
There is only a homework assignment which is to learn spelling for unit 3.1. I've instructed our boys to bring a pencil and an eraser to school tml, so I can give them a short spelling test at 8.45am tml. I've decided to administer spelling test as usual tml as I do not want to overburden our boys with 2 spelling tests next week. Hence I sincerely seek your understanding in this.
In addition, I'll be collecting the building fund donation tml. Kindly bring along your donations so that I can do a quick collation and submit our class's contributions to the general office asap. =D
Just a quick update, I will be playing the piano at the mass held at 7am tml in our sch's chapel. Hence I will only be able to join the class potluck party at 7.55am. Our class co-form teacher, Mdm Tang, will be in the classroom at 7.20am so not to worry. Also, morning assembly will be held in the classroom as we would like to invite all parents to join in the singing of our national anthem. It will definitely help us to motivate our darlings to sing loudly and show their patriotism for Sg. =D
Lastly, a new student by the name of Toby, will be joining our class for our potluck party tml. He will be in 1B for 2 weeks before leaving for Norway and being new to our Singapore education system, let's all try to make him feel very welcome and comfortable in 1B family k? =D
Ok, that's all for now. I'll be looking forward to meeting you and our darlings in their handsome festive clothes tml.
Cheers,
Teresa

Daily updates for 4th of Feb
Hi parents and my little angels,
Thank you once again for the wonderful show and tell session today. Although some boys were a little restless towards the end of the show and tell presentation, I could tell that most if not all boys were prepared for their speech. It is a good start and just to answer some of your qualms regarding the exact date of the reading test on poem, I will only commence testing after the CNY holidays on Tues, 12th of Feb. This will give our boys ample time to practice their reading of the poem during the CNY break. I will inform the boys the exact poem that they will be reading come tomorrow, 5th of Feb.
Just a little insight to today's curriculum, our reading mums did a great job in coaching our darlings in their readings. Not only that, I have noticed a significant improvement in the boys cooperating with one another during the group work sessions held in class. Most if not all groups were on task and they created a family fashion collage in the revision lesson on "My family members." We read the book on interesting insects and creepy crawlies, followed by another amazing pop-out book that showcased different olympic sports. I briefly mentioned the coming Beijing Olympics and went through various sporting activities with the boys. They were really engaged, probably due to the amazing pop-outs which allowed the boys to have an in-depth overview of how the sporting activities were performed. =D Get your child to share this with you.
Lastly, the boys did composing of Chinese New Year song in music class today. They worked in their groups to come up with a group song in the tune of "Gong xi gong xi" and presented the song in front of everyone. tIn the midst of it I taught the boys how to evaluate their group performances and that kept everyone pretty engaged throughout the group singing presentation.
Okie, enough said, here's the homework for today.
(1) Guardian Angel Letters for the Primary 1 have been given out and this "Aunt Agony" programme encourages our boys to write in if they need to find someone to share their problems with. The students can choose to either write in via e-mail (chsguardianangel@gmail.com) or send hardcopy letters to Form Teachers or the Guardian Angel letterbox (located at the staircase between the Library and Class 2B).
(2) Some boys have forgotten to bring their spelling books or have forgotten to get their parents to sign in their spelling books. Kindly check with your child if he has submitted the book.
Love,
Teresa

Re: Homework assignment for 31st of Jan
Hi parents and our little darlings,
I've given out a circular regarding Catholic High's Chinese New Yr Celebration 2008 held on Wed, 6th of Feb next week. Kindly note that there is a class potluck party from 7.35 to 8.35 in our 1B classroom on Wed. Our school would like to extend an invitation to all our parents and little ones to participate in this mingling session. Your child is also strongly encouraged to wear his festive costume (Chinese ethnic wear) to school on Wed. As there will be no lessons conducted on CNY eve, your child need not carry his school bag but ensure that important items like wallets or water bottles be kept in a small bag if he chooses to bring them.
CNY celebration will be held in the hall at 9am and it will last till 1030am. Our school would also like to appeal to all parents to donate generously for the building fund of our future indoor sports hall. Kindly return all contributions by 15th of Feb.
Lastly, I've found out from the boys that there was internal relief yesterday i.e. other Catholic High Trs coming into the classroom. As such our boys did not take their spelling tests. Hence I will be conducting the spelling test for this week today before commencing on the show and tell session.
That's all for today. Thanks to our class rep Yvonne, she'll be liaising with all parents reg the food items to bring for the potluck party on next Wed.
Cheers,
Teresa

Lastly, I've found out from the boys that there was internal relief yesterday i.e. other Catholic High Trs coming into the classroom. As such our boys did not take their spelling tests. Hence I will be conducting the spelling test for this week today before commencing on the show and tell session.
That's all for today. Thanks to our class rep Yvonne, she'll be liaising with all parents reg the food items to bring for the potluck party on next Wed.
Cheers,
Teresa

Big Welcome to our Cathigh1B family blog!
Hi parents and dearest angelic boys,
This is Miss Teresa Maria Lee speaking. Warmest welcome to one and all. In addition to our class email cathigh1b@yahoo.com.sg, I've created a blog for our class 1B 2008. I believe this blog will be more efficient since posts can be viewed instantly and comments can be added etc. Furthermore, our darlings can post some of their comments, writings or video clips etc. to share with their friends, teachers and parents.
Kindly be informed that important notices and daily updates of homework assignment would take place here. I would still post them in the email so we'll have 2 means of communication there =D Here's looking forward to a fruitful 2008 and do make full use of our family blog!
Love,
Teresa Maria Lee
